Abstract We study a four-stroke Otto engine whose working fluid is quantum Ising chain. The thermodynamic cycle consists in sweeps of the transverse magnetic field occurring thermal isolation, alternated by thermalisation strokes with reservoirs at different temperatures. system–environment coupling modelled thermodynamically consistent way means nonlocal Lindblad master equation. show that may operate four operation modes, depending on various parameters, particular it can act as heat and refrigerator. detect an enhancement performance critical point crossed, investigate detail.
